Baptism in the Holy Spirit

March 15, 2020
Pastor Nithin Thompson

The Holy Spirit is the most misunderstood member of the Trinity– which explains the power outage in the lives of many Christians! If you’re hungry for a fresh touch of God’s Spirit… Join us for Wind & Fire!  For 40 days, our entire church will seek a deeper encounter with the Holy Spirit through anointed worship, Spirit-filled preaching, and breakthrough prayer.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Baptism means soaking. It comes from the Textile industry when a white fabric is dipped into vibrant colors and transformed into something new.

While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Acts 19: 1-6

Baptism at Salvation

When we put our trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we receive all of the Holy Spirit. Not just a part of the Holy Spirit but everything!

For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

1 Corinthians 12: 13

Baptism in Water

If you’ve never been baptized, sign up for our Spring Baptisms which will take place later this year.

Fillings of the Holy Spirit

• If you’re not a Christian… Do you want to become one? You can join God’s forever family through faith in Christ. No matter what you’ve done or what you’re going through, God loves you as you are and wants to be your Father.  Pray to receive Christ!

• If you are a Christian, but you need a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit…

Hold out your hands and pray: “Search me, Holy Spirit. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way of life.” Let God reveal to you any hidden sin or fear that is separating you from connecting to Christ. Confess them and surrender it to Jesus and receive a fresh filling of His Holy Spirit.
