We all desire to have financial stability and abundance. However, God cares about every aspect of our lives, including our finances. When we trust God with our finances, we open ourselves to His blessings and provision. In the story of the fishes and loaves, Jesus demonstrated His power to multiply resources beyond human capability. He did not just provide enough food for the crowd, but there were plenty of leftovers. It proves God can work miracles with our finances, too. Deuteronomy 28:12 tells us, "The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none."
When we bring our resources to God first, we show Him our trust and faith in Him to provide for our needs. Moreover, God will go above and beyond to bless us!
GENEROSITY AS A WAY OF LIFE
Generosity is a way of life that reflects God's character. Giving generously makes us conduits of God's blessings to others. Our generosity can inspire others to give and make a difference. Giving does not just benefit those we give to, but it also benefits us. As we give, we experience joy, contentment, and fulfillment. When we give freely, we position ourselves to receive more blessings from God. 2 Corinthians 9:6 tells us, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."
It also involves giving our time, resources, and talents freely to others. It is an attitude that reflects the kindness and compassion we have towards others and a desire to make a positive impact on their lives. Generosity is not only about material possessions or financial wealth but also about being open-hearted, empathetic, and willing to help in any way we can. When we practice generosity as a way of life, we create a ripple effect of kindness and goodness that can inspire others to do the same.
THE PRINCIPLE OF TITHING
Tithing is an act of obedience to God's commandment to bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, which is the local church where you worship and serve. According to Malachai 3:10, we are to "Bring the whole title into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says The LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
When we tithe, we demonstrate our trust in God for our needs. Tithing is not just about giving 10% of our income to the church but also giving our first fruits to God. When we give our first fruits, we put God first in our lives and acknowledge Him as the source of all our blessings. It is vitally important to remember; God must bless it before it can multiply in your hands.
OFFERINGS ABOVE AND BEYOND
Tithing is just the beginning of our giving journey. God wants us to go above and beyond our tithes by giving offerings. Offerings are gifts to God over and above our tithes, demonstrating our willingness to be generous with our resources. When we give offerings, we tell God that we trust Him to multiply our resources and use them for His glory!
Let us be faithful stewards of God's blessings and use them to make a difference. Remember, only what is given away can multiply!
