Easter is a holiday that holds a lot of significance for Christians worldwide. While many people may view it as a time for bunnies and chocolate eggs, for Christians, it's a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter isn't just a myth or a legend; it's a historical event that changed the course of history. The story of Easter begins with Jesus Christ's arrest, trial, and crucifixion. Then, despite committing no crime, Jesus was sentenced to death on the cross. This event is known as Good Friday, and it's a solemn day for Christians worldwide. Mark 15:42 says: The death of Jesus happened on Friday, the day of preparation, the day before the Sabbath. However, the story doesn't end there. On Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead three days later, proving He was God's Son.
DEATH OVER VICTORY
Jesus' resurrection is a testament to His victory over death and sin. 1 Corinthians 15:55-58 says, "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." His death and resurrection defeated the power of sin and death, granting eternal life to everyone who believes in Him. As believers, we can look forward to a reunion with our loved ones in heaven. That's the Hope; God turns Graves into Gardens!
The resurrection of Jesus Christ has also proven to be a source of comfort and strength for people facing dark times. No matter what life throws at you, nothing can separate you from the love of God. Romans 8:38-39 says "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." This is particularly powerful for those facing addiction, divorce, or death. It's a reminder that there is always hope with Jesus.
TURN TO THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
If you're feeling heartbroken or lost right now, we encourage you to turn to the light of Christ. The hope and love of Jesus Christ can dispel even the darkest of shadows. If you've never made the decision to trust in Christ, the Holy Spirit is inviting you to do that right now. Romans 10:9 says, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Be encouraged and know the worst thing is not the final thing! The same Love & Power that raised Jesus from the dead– God wants to give it to you!
