With school out and Summer in full swing, parents know what that means... More time with the kids at home! Are your kids already feeling boredom abound? With all the challenges families encountered over the last year, it’s time for some fun. It’s time for an adventure. Fortunately, you don’t have to come up with activities for your kids in a vacuum. One thing you can look forward to: Getting out of the house and going to the Jersey Shore is once again a Summer must-do activity!

Whether you spend your time on the beach or at the boardwalk, here are 5 Boredom Busters we’ve listed as the best activities for kids to do at the Jersey Shore this Summer:

BOREDOM BUSTER #1: BUILD A SANDCASTLE

A classic beach activity, building sandcastles is a great activity for kids of all ages. More than that, it’s hard to beat the excitement for a kid that comes with creating something with their own hands. So sit back and relax as they build sandcastles, moats, and more...or, join in on the fun!  Just don’t forget to take a picture or two for posterity!

BOREDOM BUSTER #2: VISIT AN AQUARIUM

Another fun activity is to bring your little ones to one of the many aquariums found at the Shore. Two great options to check out are Jenkinson’s Aquarium located in Point Pleasant Beach and Seaport Aquarium at the Southern NJ beaches of Wildwood. Witnessing a variety of different marine creatures in their habitats will fascinate your kids as they get up close and personal with sea otters, penguins, sharks, jellyfish and many more. Plus, watching your child smush their face against the glass to see the fish will be a cute memory you will always want to remember!

BOREDOM BUSTER #3: JUMP SOME WAVES

Who doesn’t love jumping over a good wave? You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this - just a kid at heart. This may be a simple idea, but it is a fan favorite. Wave jumping really is an exhilarating experience, as you hope you’re still standing once your feet hit the sand. Hold on tight to little-ones and get ready for lots of belly laughs!

BOREDOM BUSTER #4: PLAY ARCADE GAMES

If your day at the beach turns into a rainy one, bring the family to the boardwalk to check out an arcade. A budget friendly way to do this activity is to have a set amount of money for each family member to spend in the arcade on games before you even enter. With fun games for kids to play, prizes to be won, and nostalgic memories for parents to relive, the arcade is a great Jersey Shore activity for all ages. Instead of visiting all the crane games first, start your kids off with the classics: Skee-Ball, Pac-Man, Pong, pinball, Donkey Kong, and watch them play something you enjoyed at their age.

BOREDOM BUSTER #5: FLY A KITE

It’s a sunny day at the beach with a light breeze blowing in your hair when suddenly...inspiration strikes. You realize that it’s the perfect day to teach your youngsters how to fly a kite. So, show them the ropes (or strings in this case) and watch them fly a kite for the first time. Not only is this a fun activity for them, but it’s also a simple way to bond closer with your children by teaching them something new.

BONUS: BUY LOTS OF CANDY

Before you leave the Shore for the day, make sure you grab some beach candy for the family on the way out. The candy stores have everything your kids could want: Fudge, a variety of chocolates, gummies and (of course) the classic salt water taffy that the Jersey Shore is known for. When you and your kids have a piece of candy when you’re home, let each piece of candy be a reminder of the family fun you had together at the Jersey Shore.
